Apple CEO John Ternus hosted his first earnings call as CEO on Monday, November 2. The 2 p.m. Pacific Time call, which also included CFO Kevan Parekh, covered the company’s third-quarter results for the period from June 28 to September 26. Apple reported record earnings that beat Wall Street expectations, and the call was aimed mainly at shareholders and analysts.
The quarter saw the launch of the Mac Mini with M6 and M5 Pro chips, the Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips, a new Apple polishing cloth, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, AirPods 5, a Beats 360 wrist strap and a new Apple Watch charging puck. The iPhone Duo was announced in the quarter, but pre-orders did not start until October 16, so the results include no revenue from the device.
iPhone Duo supply status
In a Reuters interview, Ternus said the iPhone Duo is still constrained. He said the ramp is going well and Apple is working to get the foldable to as many customers as quickly as possible, but that the company cannot yet predict when supply and demand will be in balance. Shipping estimates on the Apple Store remain set for late January, where they have stayed since the first pre-orders sold out on October 16.
Ternus also addressed the display problems. He confirmed that a very small percentage of Duo units had been returned with cracked screens, and Apple is replacing them with new models. Investors remain curious about the foldable’s sales, but the company has not yet reported any Duo sales in its quarterly earnings.
