Volkswagen has added a cheaper version of its ID. Cross crossover. The new variant uses a 37‑kWh lithium‑iron‑phosphate battery. It starts at €27,995 in Germany. The move is aimed at city commuters who want an entry‑level electric vehicle.

Battery and Range Details

The 37‑kWh pack powers either a 85‑kW or 99‑kW motor. The cars can travel up to 324 km on a full charge, according to WLTP. They can reach 160 km/h, so they are suitable for highway driving. The DC fast‑charge system adds 10 to 80 % in about 23 minutes. The battery choice is meant to keep costs down for daily driving.

The base Trend trim comes with park‑distance sensors and smartphone integration. The Life and Style trims add more comfort and tech, such as a Harman Kardon sound system and Connected Travel Assist. All trims share the same battery but differ in equipment levels. The standard features make the entry model attractive for buyers. The higher trims provide more luxury at a modest price increase.

Volkswagen’s launch comes as Europe pushes for electric cars to cut oil use. The company already refreshed other ID models, such as the ID.3 Neo and ID. Tiguan. The new ID. Cross shows VW’s strategy to broaden its electric lineup. Lower‑priced models help the brand compete against rivals. The launch also signals that electric vehicles are becoming mainstream for everyday use.
