Vixen 357, a tactical mech strategy game that first appeared on the SEGA Genesis in 1992, is slated for a modern release on October 23. The title will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam. Ratalaika Games will publish the port while Shinyuden develops it for the new platforms, following the original publisher Masaya Games and developer NCS Corporation.
New Features and Modernized Gameplay
The remake brings several quality‑of‑life additions that were missing from the original. Players can use rewind and turbo functions to replay or speed up sections, activate cheats for easier missions, save and load at any point, and apply screen filters for a retro or monochrome look. The core gameplay still focuses on 16 levels of tactical strategy with permadeath, narrative decisions, and a gallery of original art.
This release marks the first time Vixen 357 is available outside Japan in English, and it is the title’s first western launch on the Nintendo Switch. The port keeps the original story of a mysterious unit attacking the Slash Unit base and the battle that follows, now presented with modern controls and a digital price of $5.99. Fans of the original can now experience the game on current hardware while newcomers discover a classic title.
