A newly formed federal group will coordinate work across public agencies, tech firms, and civic bodies.

A fresh federal group will guide how the United States government handles artificial intelligence. Jay Clayton has been selected to head this team.
Clayton currently serves as the national intelligence director for the country.
The administration refers to the new group as the Super Intelligence Force. Donald Trump has used that label because he prefers to call artificial intelligence super intelligence.
Members of the unit will answer straight to the president and Susie Wiles, who serves as the White House chief of staff.
Several other federal officials will join Clayton on the team. Andrew Ferguson, who leads the Federal Trade Commission, sits on the roster.
The Pentagon chief technology officer, Emil Michael, is also part of the lineup.

Scott Kupor, who directs the Office of Personnel Management, completes the listed membership for the panel.
The creation of the team follows a gathering at the White House during the previous week. Leaders from prominent computing firms took part in that meeting.
During that session, companies entered an agreement on their own accord to monitor themselves as they build software tools.
The newly established team plans to consult with various groups across the country. These include technology companies, general consumers, and public interest bodies.
Religious communities and operators of essential utility and transport networks are also scheduled to take part in discussions.
Trump announced the move on social media on a Sunday, stating that this technology could bring bigger changes than the Industrial Revolution and the web.
