Ubuntu confirmed a security incident affecting its online services earlier this week. Users trying to reach the main website or download ISO files found the resources inoperable on Thursday. Staff identified the disruption as a distributed denial of service attack targeting the web infrastructure.

The company posted updates on Ubuntu Discourse to keep users informed about the situation. An initial message noted that staff were working to fix the issue. A later announcement said most affected services were now available while asking for patience.

Reports from Phoronix helped verify the timing and impact of the outage. The official status page recorded a specific duration for the disruption affecting Ubuntu.com. Data indicated the site was down for 2 hours and 27 minutes on Friday, though four-hour outages were also noted on Wednesday. Other affected sites experienced similar issues during the same period.

By the time the report was published, systems were functioning normally. The status page reported that all components are operational again today. Users can access the resources without disruption at this time.
