Toyota is recalling 105,794 hybrid Land Cruiser SUVs from the 2024 through 2027 model years after a defect was found that may allow the plastic fuel tube on the gas tank to separate from the metal fuel tube that feeds the turbo‑charged four‑cylinder engine. The separation can happen if the retaining clip that joins the two tubes lifts, leading to a fuel leak that wastes gasoline and can increase the risk of a fire if the leaking fuel contacts an ignition source. Toyota estimates that only about 1 % of the recalled vehicles actually have the defect, and it has collected 23 field reports and 64 warranty claims in the United States.
Owners of affected vehicles are being asked to bring their SUVs to a dealer, where technicians will inspect the fuel line and install a supplemental clamp or, if necessary, replace the resin fuel tube. Toyota will notify owners by mail by December 13, 2026, and dealers are instructed to perform the repairs at no charge.
