Steam has once again broken its all-time record for concurrent users. The service reached 43,505,724 people logged in at the same time. This marks the third time this year that the top figure has been smashed.
Previous records were hit back in January and March. GamesRadar+ notes this comes just seven months after its last record. The service has now existed for 23 years before reaching this milestone.
This figure counts accounts logged in, not just people actually playing games. Users with computers left on overnight add to the total count. SteamDB records show 14.5 million were actually in-game when the record was broken.
Certain titles helped drive these higher numbers this week. Gears of War: E-Day saw around 170,000 sales on Steam. The free-to-play MMO Aion 2 also had almost 400,000 players showing up all week.

Routine popular games also remain a major factor in these counts. Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2 routinely see player counts of over one million. PUGB maintains a regular presence with around 700,000 users.
These figures are spread across the entire library of games available on the service. There are currently 130,000 games to choose from. That number goes up by 20,000 a year according to the report.
All these numbers mean Valve is likely to make $20,000,000,000 this year. This income is higher than the GDP of dozens of countries. Kotaku suggests there are ways it could spend this money to improve things.
Other platforms report much higher daily activity figures overall. Roblox reported 123 million daily active users in the second quarter of 2026. Fortnite alone matched Steam's all-time highest number of in-game players with a peak of 14.3 million in 2024.
Despite these high numbers, competitors face financial challenges. Epic laid off 1,000 people this year while Roblox reports a net loss of $185 million. Valve is still coming out on top despite the competition.
