Sony has stopped selling its last dedicated 4K Blu‑ray player, the UBP‑X700, in Japan. The Sony Japan online store lists the product as out of stock and says it will not be restocked.
Other markets are still able to buy the UBP‑X700. Sony’s United States and United Kingdom websites show remaining stock, and Amazon lists the model for sale. The price is about $149.50.
With the UBP‑X700 discontinued, the PlayStation 5 is now Sony’s only Blu‑ray player. Tom’s Hardware reports that the PS5 can play Blu‑ray discs and that no other Sony device offers the same function.
