Smart revealed its production-spec #2 compact EV at the Paris Motor Show on October 12, 2026. This event marks the return of the brand following teases from the Geely-Mercedes collaboration. The car is styled by Mercedes-Benz and keeps design elements true to the original Fortwo that the company revealed at the Louvre years ago.
The #2 is approximately nine feet long with a short hood and a mostly flat grille design. It features rounded rail lights on the rear that direct vision to the part of the car meant for sitting. Smart placed it next to a sculpture of a giant shoe at its Paris auto show debut to highlight how tiny it feels.
A split tailgate occupies the rear, creating more space when needed for loading or seating. Smart says the gate can hold up to 264 pounds at a standstill, though dynamic loading is not recommended. The top window opens independently from the bottom tailgate to complete the compact but practical look.

Inside, the production #2 features the bench front seat with light brown seats for an airy feel. The middle section has a narrow width and appears without a seatbelt, serving instead as storage for an armrest and cup holder. The design includes a slim digital gauge cluster, a large center touchscreen, and prominent round air vents.
Reports cite either an 80-horsepower motor or a 60-kW electric motor paired with a 35.8-kWh LFP battery pack. The WLTP range calculation claims about 180 miles on a single charge for Europe and China. This powertrain puts torque to the rear wheels of the electric car.
Orders are open for China and Europe, but the U.S. will not see them anytime soon, as pricing details and arrival dates have not been announced yet. Smart says the EV can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 20 minutes with DC fast charging. This allows for easy driving in densely-packed Europe and China.
A limited-quantity #2 Couture Edition adds gold accents and Premium trim options to highlight Smart’s Function becomes Fashion theme. This edition wears Atelier White Matte paint with Platinum Gold accents on the mirror caps, roof, and wheels. It is limited to 999 units each in Europe and China.
