Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, the fifth entry in the SaGa series and a full‑3D remake of the 1993 RPG, has shipped and sold more than one million copies worldwide, according to Square Enix. The milestone makes it the first SaGa title to reach that level since SaGa Frontier in 1997, underscoring the franchise’s enduring popularity.

Release Dates and Platforms

The game originally launched on October 24 2024 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Subsequent releases included a Switch 2 upgrade and an Xbox Series version, scheduled for July 31 2025 and September 25 2025, respectively, as announced by Square Enix. The titles were later rolled out to additional platforms, expanding the game’s reach.

However, a later report states the Switch 2 upgrade arrived in July 2026 instead of 2025, indicating a discrepancy between the two sources about the exact release date of the upgraded version. Both sources agree that the upgrade was intended to bring the game to the newer Switch hardware, but they differ on the month and year.

To celebrate the achievement, Square Enix shared a new artwork by Yoshiro Ambe. The illustration, released alongside the announcement of the million‑unit milestone, features stylized imagery of the Seven Heroes and serves as a visual tribute to the game’s legacy.

Square Enix also announced that Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United, another 3D remake, will launch on February 16 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch, PC via Steam and Microsoft Store. The upcoming title continues the series’ revival and expands the franchise’s presence across multiple platforms.
