20th Century Studios is developing a new Alien movie that follows the story of Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Scott is attached at this stage only as a producer.

Script by Aaron Guzikowski

Aaron Guzikowski, a past collaborator with Scott, will write the script. His credits include Prisoners and the Papillon remake, and he is also writing an animated adaptation of Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding.

The film is not a sequel to Romulus. Film Stories reports that the planned Romulus follow-up has stalled, with director Fede Alvarez moving on to other projects. Geek Culture reports that Alvarez will now produce alongside Scott.

The new film is said to connect to David, the android played by Michael Fassbender in Prometheus and Covenant. Fassbender has not been confirmed for the new film.

Scott is not expected to direct, as he is busy with Treasure Island, according to Film Stories. No director has been attached yet.
