Resident Evil Requiem is a new entry in a long series. It released earlier this year on multiple systems.

The game works on PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. Microsoft Xbox consoles also support the title.

Producer Masachika Kawata recently spoke about the creation process for fans. He shared these views in a special magazine book interview.

At first, director Koshi Nakanishi wanted to build an online experience. They tried to make players interact with each other through servers.

Feedback during testing did not support that direction very well. The team eventually stopped the online plan to focus on fear instead.

Leon Kennedy was the first character picked to appear in the story. However, his past skills made pure horror difficult to keep alive.

The developers needed a way to make the game feel less safe. They added Grace Ashcroft as a second playable protagonist for balance.

Marketing materials focused on Grace before the full cast was known. This helped build tension around what kind of threat waited for them.

Leon Kennedy appeared late in the promotion campaign for the release. Keeping details hidden maintained interest until launch day arrived.

The title has sold over eight million copies since it came out. Financial analysts estimate revenue exceeded five hundred million dollars so far.

This financial success makes it the top earning game in the franchise history. Fans continue to play through story expansions set for later release.
