A new report from GamesBeat claims Rockstar Games is planning to release the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 6 early next year. Multiple outlets cite anonymous industry sources familiar with the studio's plans who requested to remain anonymous. The timeline suggests the game should arrive by the end of March 2027, within the first quarter of the year.

If true, this news means PC players would wait at most four months after the initial console launch on November 19. That release date applies to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S systems currently. This timeframe would be a notable improvement over previous entries in the series where PC versions arrived much later.

Grand Theft Auto 5 took nearly two years to reach computers after its original console launch in September 2013. The last major release, Red Dead Redemption 2, also required a full year of waiting for the PC port in 2019. Some sources note that four industry insiders provided this new estimate based on their knowledge of Rockstar's plans.

Former producer John Ricchio explained earlier this year that focusing on consoles first is not an anti-PC stance. He stated the policy prioritizes resource management so developers know hardware limitations from the start. This approach avoids problems that arise when making a PC version before solving console constraints for less powerful hardware.

Rockstar will likely not announce specifics for some time to protect sales numbers next month. The company does not want to actively cannibalize any demand for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S units during the launch period. Despite the delay, reports suggest the game will sell a huge number of copies regardless of platform choice.

PC players often receive one of the best versions of the game in the end due to later development time. Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to support mods and user-generated content which helps sustain its community. This benefit usually justifies the wait for fans who prefer personal computers over consoles.
