The Peugeot E-T16 concept was unveiled at the 2026 Paris Motor Show as an electric tribute to the 205 Turbo 16. The French brand describes it as a preview of the next-generation E-208 electric hatchback expected in early 2027. It celebrates the 40th anniversary of the rally car's World Rally Championship victories in 1985 and 1986.
Peugeot says this is the most powerful road-going model developed since the company began making cars in 1889. These figures result in a power-to-weight ratio of less than 2kg per horsepower.
The vehicle is designed to complete three laps of the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit without power loss in Performance mode. A specialized battery cooling system allows for sustained high performance on the track. Peugeot has also equipped the concept with a hydraulic handbrake inspired by rally cars to assist with drifting.
An 85 kilowatt-hour battery pack supports an 800-volt electrical architecture. Peugeot claims a WLTP combined driving range of up to 400 kilometres under normal conditions. Charging from 10 per cent to 80 per cent is said to take less than 15 minutes in suitable environments.

The exterior uses Winchester Matte Grey paintwork with a large rear wing shaped like cat ears. It borrows visual elements from the Polygon concept shown in 2025, including oversized air intakes and aggressive body guards. The entire rear bodywork tilts open to reveal the electric motors and mechanical hardware beneath.
Inside, a squared-off steering wheel known as the Hypersquare takes center stage in the i-Cockpit. A 21-inch curved panoramic display shows instrument information within the driver's natural field of view. The cabin uses carbon-fibre bucket seats and red accents to reinforce its sporting character.
Australian availability for future Peugeot models remains uncertain after local importer Inchcape handed back distribution rights in July 2026. While some reports suggest a positive reaction might lead to production, Peugeot has not presented the concept as a confirmed model. It is a collaboration with Peugeot Sport that previews how electrification influences future digital interfaces and materials.
Update (Jalopnik): According to Jalopnik, the concept delivers 816 horsepower via a tri-motor setup and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds. Jalopnik reports that engineers are developing a drivable prototype featuring a lithium-nickel-manganese battery pack with "side cooling" technology. Design director Matthias Hossann told Autocar the vehicle could enter production if sufficient interest exists.
