CD Projekt RED is working on a movie based on Cyberpunk 2077. They have teamed up with Paramount Pictures to produce it. This moves the game into live-action formats for the first time.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura will serve as a producer for the film. He has experience making large action movies like Transformers and G.I. Joe. His past work includes many big-budget films in that genre.

Reports on the news status differ between publishers in various ways. Some sources call it a rumor while others list it as an official statement from the studio. They do not all agree on how certain the information is right now.

The video game itself has been very successful recently. CD Projekt RED says forty million copies have been sold worldwide. This includes the main release from the start of the decade.

A paid story expansion called Phantom Liberty also did well. Fifteen million copies of that update were sold separately. It added new locations and characters to the game setting.

Developers say the film will tell a new story inside the universe. They did not share plot details or a release date yet. The movie takes place in the same world where players explore Night City.

Michał Nowakowski is one of the co-leaders at the game studio. He posted a message saying he feels excited about working with Paramount. He noted that both groups share similar goals for the franchise.

The Cyberpunk world has appeared in other media before. An animated series called Edgerunners was released on Netflix recently. That show drew a large audience and received good reviews from fans.

Actors Keanu Reeves and Idris Elba have roles in the game already. They provided voices for main characters like Johnny Silverhand and Solomon Reed. Fans wonder if they will appear in the film as well.

The original launch of Cyberpunk 2077 had trouble with software performance. Many players returned to play after updates fixed those issues. The team says they hope to regain trust from those early players who left.
