A monitoring organization has reported a sharp increase in artificial intelligence images showing child sexual abuse.
The Internet Watch Foundation is based in the United Kingdom and tracks abuse material around the world.
Analysts at the group examine content to see if it breaks the law.
So far this year, the organization has examined 6,310 artificial intelligence images that meet the legal standard for child sexual abuse.
This count is forty percent higher than the full total recorded in the previous year.
During that prior year, the foundation assessed more than 4,500 such files.
The group noted that the material found in the first half of 2026 has already overtaken the entire amount investigated in 2025.
Many of the computerized images discovered during these investigations look like real photographs.
The provided details do not explain why the amount of this illegal content has grown so quickly this year.
