The 2027 Nissan Pathfinder turns 40 years old, and the automaker has released a Special Edition that looks back to the original 1986 model. The anniversary trim features a two‑tone black‑and‑burgundy interior that echoes the first Pathfinder’s distinctive red upholstery, with burgundy accents on seats, door panels and the dashboard. A badge with an embossed anniversary graphic sits on the passenger‑side dashboard, while the exterior receives subtle burgundy touches on the grille and rear lettering.

Exterior styling is restrained, but still nods to the past. The Special Edition carries black 20‑inch alloy wheels and burgundy accents on the upper grille openings. A distinctive anniversary badge on the C‑pillar reinforces the connection to the 1980s Pathfinder, and the rear lettering also carries a touch of burgundy.

Under the hood the vehicle is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.5‑liter V‑6 that delivers 284 horsepower and 259 lb‑ft of torque, paired with a nine‑speed automatic transmission. The front‑wheel‑drive version is standard, but an all‑wheel‑drive option is available. The Special Edition includes a standard upgraded towing package that raises the maximum towing capacity to 6,000 pounds from the 3,500 pounds of other trims.

Standard equipment and cost

Standard equipment on the Special Edition adds a panoramic sunroof, a 12‑speaker Bose premium audio system, second‑row captain’s chairs and rear‑door sunshades. These features elevate the trim to a more upscale level, positioned below the higher‑priced Platinum trim but still offering a compelling set of amenities.

Pricing for the 2027 Nissan Pathfinder Special Edition starts at $48,965 for the front‑wheel‑drive version and $50,965 for all‑wheel‑drive models. Both prices include the destination charge. The vehicle is expected to reach dealerships in November 2026, giving buyers another option in the competitive midsize, three‑row SUV segment.
