Cage appeared at New York Comic Con this weekend for a panel discussion. He revealed one line he is unwilling to cross regarding his career choices. This announcement explains why he may not partner with Amazon again any time soon.
The actor identified artificial intelligence as the specific topic of his boundary. He stated that Amazon is a very AI friendly company in this regard. Reports note the streamer has invested to the tune of 50 billion dollars into OpenAI.
Cage contrasted the studio position with his own stance on the technology. He told the audience that he is not an AI friendly actor himself. This distinction was a key part of his comments during the panel.
The actor confirmed he did not sign a waiver to let them use AI on Spider-Noir. This refusal has led to a statement about working with that studio again in the future. He said he is probably not going to be working with Amazon again.

In one sense Amazon made it easy for him by cancelling the project. The monolithic streamer snuffed out Spider-Noir last month despite positive reviews. Cage played a gumshoe version of web-slinger Ben Reilly in the series.
There is a question regarding how much the refusal factored into that decision. Reports state that the exact influence remains unconfirmed at this time. The finished project has a strong sound stage look that pairs nicely with private eye vibes.
Cage will still continue to play Reilly in Sony's animated Spider-Verse films. He first debuted as the character during those previous productions. This allows him to keep working on the role outside of Amazon.
The Hollywood AI push has made him far more interested in younger directors. These filmmakers are reared on YouTube DIY techniques and seem far more intolerant to generative tech than older peers. He specifically cited hopes to collaborate with Backrooms director Kane Parsons as well.
