New Jersey’s deputy attorney general, Brian Richard Fitzgerald, was arrested at his home on Thursday on felony charges related to AI‑generated child sexual abuse material.

Bucks County Detectives said they traced a Discord account that had posted an illicit image after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Digital forensics and subscriber records linked the account to Fitzgerald’s address. A search of the home recovered AI prompts, scripts, and Discord chat logs in which Fitzgerald, using the username “thegentlemanpervert_2160_07833,” admitted to creating and sharing multiple AI‑generated CSAM images.

The United States has been cracking down on AI‑generated CSAM since at least 2024, when the Department of Justice made one of its earliest arrests. The DOJ clarified that CSAM produced by AI is still illegal child sexual abuse material.
