First‑look images of 'The Gallerist' have been released, showing the film’s ensemble cast in a modern art gallery setting. Natalie Portman appears as gallery owner Polina Polinski, sporting a platinum‑blonde bob while admiring the sculpture 'The Emasculator'. The stills also feature Zach Galifianakis as a social media influencer, Da’Vine Joy Randolph giving a speech at the museum, Jenna Ortega looking concerned at Portman, and Daniel Brühl and Catherine Zeta‑Jones staring at something with contrasting expressions. The images hint at a dark comedy tone.
Plot of the film
The film follows Polina Polinski as she prepares for an Art Basel premiere and invites influencer Dalton Hardberry to review emerging artist Stella Burgess. When a gruesome death occurs at the museum involving 'The Emasculator', Polina turns the incident into a viral sensation, taking drastic measures to transform the accident into priceless art.
Portman plays Polina, Ortega plays her assistant Kiki Gorman, and Sterling K. Brown plays Tom, a canned tuna tycoon and Polina’s ex‑husband. Galifianakis plays Dalton Hardberry, Randolph plays Stella Burgess, while Brühl, Zeta‑Jones, Charli XCX and Youssef Kerkour also appear. Director Cathy Yan, who has praised Portman, directed the film.
The Gallerist premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival on January 24, 2026. It will arrive in theaters on December 4, 2026.
