Neve Campbell has confirmed she will return as Sidney Prescott in an eighth Scream film. Speaking to the Associated Press, she said she is developing two shows and that Scream 8 is in the pipeline. Asked to give details, she laughed. “You know I can never tell you anything about ‘Scream 8’… I’ll be in it.”
Scream 7 became the highest-grossing entry in the series, and it broke the franchise’s domestic record with more than $121 million in the U.S. Kevin Williamson directed it, and it also drew the worst reviews of the franchise. Lilla and Nora Zuckerman, the Poker Face showrunners, were hired by Spyglass in March to write the script.
Sidney’s husband, Mark Evans, who played the police chief in the seventh film, and their daughter, Tatum Evans, are expected to return. No cast or release details have been announced.
