Netflix announced that it will cut roughly 1,000 jobs, about 6 percent of its workforce. The move is the company’s largest round of layoffs since 2022. The announcement was made through an email from co‑CEOs Greg Peters and Ted Sarandos.
The streaming giant has about 16,000 employees worldwide and reported revenue of $45.2 billion in 2025. In 2022 the company cut around 450 jobs. The latest cuts therefore represent a significant increase.
The memo said that most of the cuts would come from product, technology, legal and human‑resources teams. The co‑CEOs said the company remains strong and growing, and that they are focusing on high‑impact areas. They also mentioned growing pressure from rivals such as YouTube and TikTok.
Netflix had previously pulled back from a bid to acquire Warner Bros. Earlier this year the company has also been adding gaming, podcasts and live sports to its lineup. These moves are part of the strategy to keep expanding its entertainment portfolio.
