NBC eyes Ty Burrell‑led ‘Coach’ reboot series

NBC is developing a new version of the 1989‑1997 sitcom ‘Coach’ with ‘Modern Family’ star Ty Burrell set to produce and star.

The original series, which aired from 1989 to 1997, followed Craig T. Nelson as Hayden Fox, the head coach of the fictional Minnesota State University Screaming Eagles football team, and was filmed with a multi‑camera setup.

The new iteration will adopt a single‑camera approach and is written by Matthew and Daniel Libman, the creative duo behind ‘Mr. Throwback’. The logline describes a famed coach returning to Minnesota to rebuild his alma mater’s basketball program and reconnect with his community, with John Fox and John Davis also credited as executive producers.
