Capcom will release a free Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 19, 2026. The demo lets players explore the opening chapters of the game, and it can be downloaded from the Switch 2 eShop on the same day that digital pre‑orders for the full title begin. It supports local multiplayer, but online play is not available in the demo.
Demo covers first chapters
The demo gives players full access to the character creation screen and lets them play through Chapter 1‑3, ending at the Forest. After the demo, players can carry their progress over to the full game. The full title will release on December 4 for Switch 2, while it is already available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.
In an interview with Video Games Chronicle, Capcom producer Ryozo Tsujimoto said that bringing Wilds to Switch 2 was important because it makes co‑op play easier at home, a tradition that started with handheld consoles like the PSP and 3DS. He added that cross‑play between Switch 2 and other platforms could create a virtual local experience for players who own multiple consoles in the same household.
