The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, the sixth installment and second prequel, will debut on November 20, 2026 in 3D in theaters, thanks to a collaboration between Lionsgate and Meta. Meta worked with VFX giant DNEG and its internal 3D conversion branch Stereo to create the effect.

A recent demo showed clips from the Billie Eilish concert documentary and Avengers: Endgame.

Director Francis Lawrence said the team wanted the film to feel “visceral and immersive, pulling audiences deep into Haymitch’s experience.” Lionsgate’s chief revenue officer Jim Packer praised the partnership, and Meta’s Sarah Malkin, head of entertainment for Reality Labs, pitched the glasses as a home for premium entertainment.

The film stars Joseph Zada as teenage Haymitch, McKenna Grace, Ralph Fiennes, Jesse Plemons, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Maya Hawke, Whitney Peak, Kelvin Harrison Jr., and Ben Wang. The 2023 prequel earned $363 million worldwide.
