At the 2026 Paris Motor Show, Mercedes unveiled its first in‑house built all‑electric AMG SUV. The new GT SUV replaces the gas‑powered GLE63 with a zero‑tailpipe model that still delivers raw power. Three variants are offered – the entry‑level GT53 with 536 horsepower, the GT55 at 805 horsepower, and the flagship GT63 at a staggering 1,153 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in as little as 2.4 seconds, topping out at 168 mph.
The SUV is built on the AMG.EA electric platform and uses two battery sizes. The 106‑kWh pack powers the GT53 for up to 415 miles, while the larger 128‑kWh pack gives the GT55 and GT63 a range of 435 miles. An 800‑volt architecture supports DC fast charging up to 710 kW, adding roughly 280 miles in ten minutes.
Powertrain and Range
It carries an active suspension with pitch and roll control, active rear steering, and a 4MATIC+ all‑wheel‑drive system that provides torque vectoring. A Race Engineer Control Unit offers nine driving modes, traction control levels, and an agility knob for cornering behavior. The AMGForce Sport+ sound system simulates a V8 or six‑cylinder engine with seat shakers.
Production will begin in early 2027 at the AMG factory in Sindelfingen, with European launch expected in summer 2027. Prices start at €113,050 for the GT53 in Germany, while the GT63 is quoted at $224,000 in the United States. The U.S. version will use a NACS charging port, whereas the European model hides the port behind a pop‑up panel on the rear fender.
