In Australia, 192 vehicles built between 2022 and 2024 are affected. Worldwide, the recall covers models produced from June 2019 to November 2024.
The recall covers a defect in the front-axle brake hoses that can become damaged over time. A damaged hose may leak brake fluid, lowering the vehicle's braking power and potentially putting other road users at risk if fluid spills onto the roadway.
The recall covers a wide range of models, including the S-Class 223 with air suspension, the S 350 d, S 400 d, S 450, S 500, S 580, plug-in hybrids S 450 e and S 580 e, the AMG S 63 E Performance, and the Maybach S 450, S 480, S 580 and S 680.
Owners will be notified by Mercedes-Benz and can take their car to an authorised dealer for the replacement of the brake hoses, free of charge. No incidents of damage or injury have been reported so far. The recall code is 4391103.
