Magic: The Gathering is adding a third Marvel set within two years under its Universes Beyond label. This expansion builds on previous collaborations that have seen high sales numbers for the trading card game.

Players will see an original story created specifically for this release rather than reusing old plots. Writers Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly are working with the Wizards of the Coast narrative team to make the new title.

A digital version of the comic book chapter arrives on February 26, 2027 for readers online. The physical edition follows later alongside the card set in April 2027 though some reports list slightly different titles for the product.

The central focus of this project is a powerful book known as the Darkhold within Marvel lore. This item drives plots in television shows like WandaVision and Doctor Strange involving multiple realities.

In gameplay terms the artifact acts as a legendary card that rewards usage with extra cards drawn from the deck. Using it lowers your life total but forces opponents to share that risk instead of protecting against it alone.

The set spans nearly 30 distinct dimensions similar to previous hints about Temple of Khonshu regions. Basic land cycles may include locations like Asgard and Svartalfheim alongside standard game types.

Doctor Strange, Hela, Thor, and Dormammu form the core cast along with a character named Magik. This brings the master sorcerer to cards for the first time in a major Wizards collection.

Artists like Volkan Baga will provide artwork for new superheroes and villains including a giant called Gargantos. New mechanics may involve damage tracking through special items resembling an Infinity Stone.

There is no official confirmation on whether Commander format cards will reach the digital client Arena. Preorders for the digital version are expected to start weeks before the general release in April.
