Lucasfilm said it will keep the Star Wars franchise flexible and open to new game ideas that could surprise fans. The company has already released titles such as Star Wars: Zero Company and Star Wars: Galactic Racer, showing its willingness to explore different genres.

Flexible pitching process

In an interview, Vice President of Lucasfilm Games Douglas Reilly said the studio is accepting pitches from a wide range of companies, not just the top publishers. Reilly explained that while the quality bar remains high, good ideas can come from many places, and the studio prefers experienced teams.

Known projects include Respawn Entertainment’s third Jedi game, a remake of the Knights of the Old Republic that has faced development delays, and BioWare’s sequel, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, led by Casey Hudson. The studio also has a cancelled action‑RPG, Star Wars: Magellan, in its pipeline.

Lucasfilm’s comments suggest that fans can expect more announcements that will likely keep the franchise fresh and unpredictable. The studio’s willingness to collaborate with a range of developers indicates a new era of Star Wars games.
