Leapmotor International has announced that its B05 electric hatchback will be built at the Stellantis manufacturing plant in Zaragoza, Spain. The move follows the launch of the B10 crossover, which began production on 16 October at the same facility. The partnership is part of a joint venture that began in 2024, with Stellantis holding a 51 percent stake.

Building the B05 in Spain allows Leapmotor to bypass high European import tariffs and to serve the local market with a shorter supply chain. The joint venture also gives Leapmotor access to Stellantis’ established manufacturing footprint, skilled workforce and regional suppliers, which would be costly and time‑consuming to develop independently.

The compact is priced in Spain at just under 20,000 euros before subsidies. After a 3,375‑euro Plan Auto+ subsidy and 900 euros from energy‑saving certificates, the entry‑level LifePro version starts at 19,400 euros with a 56.2‑kilowatt‑hour battery that offers a WLTP range of 482 kilometers (299 miles). A larger battery gives a higher range.

Strategic role of Stellantis and Leapmotor

The B05’s production underscores the strategic role of Stellantis in Leapmotor’s European expansion. The joint venture gives Stellantis access to Leapmotor’s EV technology while enabling the group to lower its own electrification costs. Both companies view the Zaragoza plant as a key hub for future affordable EVs.
