Hyundai announced a new limited‑edition version of its i30 Sedan N, called the Monochrome, which will be available in Australia from November 2026. Only 200 examples will be produced for the Australian market, making it a rare option alongside the same model being released in South Korea and Canada as part of the global launch.

Toned‑down styling details

Toned‑down styling details: the Monochrome removes the vibrant red trim that normally marks the i30 Sedan N. Instead, the front and rear bumpers, side sills, rear diffuser and brake calipers are finished in black, and the wheels are new 19‑inch forged alloy units with a matte black coating. Two exterior paint choices are offered – Abyss Black Pearl, which gives the car a fully blacked‑out look, and Performance Blue, which keeps the darker trim but adds a single colour accent on the interior.

The Monochrome keeps the same 2.0‑litre turbocharged engine that delivers 276 horsepower (280 metric horsepower) and 392 Newton metres of torque. With the dual‑clutch automatic it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, and the six‑speed manual reaches 0 to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds.

The interior of the Monochrome is also subtly altered. An exclusive Alcantara‑wrapped steering wheel with black‑finished buttons sits beside a matching gear‑shift boot, and Alcantara detailing appears on selected seats and panels. The steering wheel’s buttons are black to match the car’s single‑tone theme.

Australia will receive a mix of manual and dual‑clutch automatic versions, with about 170 of the 200 vehicles expected to be equipped with the automatic transmission, mirroring the sales mix of the regular i30 Sedan N. The Monochrome represents a new limited‑production option in Hyundai’s high‑performance N range, aimed at enthusiasts who prefer a more discreet look.
