Hyundai has issued a recall for 94,622 vehicles, covering 2015‑2016 Hyundai Genesis sedans and 2017‑2020 Genesis G80 models, after finding that a front seat power motor control switch could become dislodged and stay engaged, leading to overheating and fire risk while the vehicle is parked or driven. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported the defect may allow the motor to run continuously after the driver exits, and Hyundai noted two U.S. incidents of alleged fires with no injuries.

Hyundai has asked owners of the recalled vehicles to park them outdoors and away from buildings until a repair is available. The remedy will be offered at no cost, regardless of warranty status, and includes a possible reimbursement for out‑of‑pocket expenses. Owners will receive mail with instructions to bring their cars to a Hyundai or Genesis dealer for the free repair, and dealers will be notified of the program on December 6, 2026. The recall details were disclosed by the NHTSA and outlined in the automaker’s filing, which states the issue stems from a damaged switch that can become misaligned when subjected to external forces.

Affected owners can verify if their vehicle is part of the recall by checking their VIN in the NHTSA recall lookup tool or by using the recall center on Kelley Blue Book’s website. No crashes or injuries have been reported.
