The first season of HBO’s Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, premieres on HBO and HBO Max on Christmas Day 2026. Casting updates have added Charlie Weasley and the parents James and Lily Potter. The series also released a new poster that may offer a new look at Hogwarts.
Sorting Hat Voice
The Sorting Hat, which sorts new students into Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, will be voiced by David Threlfall.
The Hogwarts ghosts are now cast. Leo Bill will play Gryffindor’s Nearly Headless Nick, Andrew Brooke will play Slytherin’s Bloody Baron, and Daniel Fearn will play Hufflepuff’s Fat Friar. Laura Smyth will play the Fat Lady, the portrait that guards the Gryffindor common room.
Peter Serafinowicz will play Peeves the Poltergeist, a troublemaking specter who was played by Rik Mayall in the original film before his scenes were cut.
The Ravenclaw ghost, the Gray Lady, has not yet been announced.
