Geely Auto has officially launched in Canada with a local team in place. The company is setting up a retail and service network ahead of its first model debut next year. Bryan Wu, Geely Auto Canada managing director, said the launch reflects a long‑term commitment to Canadian drivers. Geely plans to bring global technology to Canadian customers and build strong local partnerships.
Geely’s expansion this year added seven new European markets, including Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and France. The automaker sold more than 3 million vehicles worldwide in 2025, with nearly 1.7 million new‑energy vehicles. Its products are sold in over 100 countries. These figures underscore the company’s growing presence in the electric‑vehicle market.
A Canada‑China trade agreement lets Geely import a large number of EVs each year at a tariff of 6.1% instead of the 100% rate that applied in 2024. The deal also requires that half of imported EVs be affordable models, and Canada will work with Geely to certify the vehicles for safety standards. The tariff reduction supports Geely’s Canadian plans.

Polestar, a Swedish brand owned by Geely, was banned from the U.S. market in June after the U.S. Department of Commerce denied authorization for model‑year 2027 vehicles. Polestar has shifted its focus to Europe. In July, Geely partnered with Ford to build cars at Ford’s Valencia plant in Spain. The joint venture will supply five new passenger vehicles to European showrooms by 2029, and the partnership also supports Geely’s EU expansion.
Before the launch, Geely’s brands such as Volvo, Polestar and Lotus were already sold in Canada. The new entry will introduce brands not yet offered, including Galaxy, Zeekr, Lynk & Co, Proton and Radar Auto. These brands expand the range of electric and hybrid vehicles available to Canadian consumers.
The first Canadian vehicles are expected to include the Galaxy Geome EX2, an inexpensive all‑electric hatchback that could appeal in cities like Vancouver and Montreal. The Zeekr 001, a plug‑in hybrid or electric model, may also arrive. Geely has trademarked the Zeekr name for Canada.
Geely has launched a Canadian website, www.geely.ca, to keep consumers informed about product availability, pricing and retail locations. The site will provide updates as the company moves closer to commercial launch.
