Final Fantasy Resonance will launch on October 22, 2026. The new RPG is available on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and on PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. Players can download a demo immediately.

Famitsu reviewers gave the game a 9 out of 10, a total of 36 points out of 40. The magazine estimates the core story takes 20‑30 hours, but the full experience can stretch to 70 hours when side quests are included.

It is the first Final Fantasy title to use an HD‑2D look, a blend of pixel art and 3‑D graphics that was first showcased in Octopath Traveler. The style gives the classic series a modern visual refresh while keeping its nostalgic feel.

Combat remains turn‑based and rewards players who exploit enemy weaknesses, allowing them to stagger foes, break defenses, and gain extra turns. During battle, a Resonance attack can be used, and Visions—manifestations of past heroes—can join the party and provide support.

Eight days before launch, Square Enix shared a new illustration by Trading Card Game artist Oreki Genya, showing Final Fantasy VIII lead Squall with his gunblade. The artwork ties the new game to the broader Final Fantasy universe and builds hype for the October 22 release.
