Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School is set to release on November 5, 2026. Publisher iam8bit Presents and developer Coin Crew Games confirmed the launch date for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store. The PlayStation 5 version represents a newly announced platform addition to the initial schedule.

This sequel shifts away from the first game's linear narrative into a new genre described as an open world escape room. Players can explore a sprawling campus filled with mysterious passages and hidden tunnels between classes. The Academy itself functions as one large puzzle room where students must navigate their own paths through the environment.

Specific locations include the Headmaster’s Tower and the Humanities Campus which have been rebuilt for this installment. Lore details reveal that a character named Quanty burned down the library in the first game, leading to the campus redesign. Players will learn about the school's history more than ever while discovering playful puzzles within these restored areas.

Escape Academy 2 features online and split-screen couch cooperative play available from the beginning. An optional No-Timer Mode allows students of all backgrounds to puzzle at their preferred pace without pressure. Some campus areas remain gated until a requisite number of puzzles are completed before access is granted.

The visual identity of the Academy has been rebuilt with new environments and details for characters and professors. The Humanities Campus features classical architecture inspired by the original library design, contrasting with the industrial Science Campus. Evil genius DJ Doseone returns to provide a fresh soundtrack for studying within the campus.
