MOKE International unveiled the new all-electric MOKE Mk2 at the Paris Motor Show on Thursday. The event introduced a more practical version of its distinctive open-air beach car to the public. This model is designed and built in Britain, continuing the legacy of the original vehicle from the 1960s.

Power comes from a 33 kW electric motor with a higher-capacity battery. The new version delivers a claimed driving range of up to 170 kilometers on a single charge. Reports cite this figure as roughly 105 miles on the WLTP cycle, offering more flexibility for coastal trips.

A 6.6 kW onboard charger allows the battery to go from 20 percent to 80 percent in about two hours. The charging port has also been relocated to the rear of the vehicle for a cleaner exterior. Full charges take roughly seven hours on a typical household outlet.

Practicality receives attention with an 86-litre lockable front storage compartment for beach equipment. This space provides a secure place to stash bags or groceries away from the passenger area. The central control panel features a clearer layout with a rotary gear selector and wider footwells.

European buyers now have more color choices with the expanded California Collection. New finishes include Sonoma Red, Laguna Blue and Venice White to complement existing shades like Wave Blue. The Earth Naturals range adds Shell White and Eucalyptus Green for buyers preferring calmer colors.

The vehicle has a recommended retail price of €35,000 before taxes and incentives. It is available to test drive, rent or purchase in several European markets soon. A US launch is planned for next year while the vehicle remains fully highway legal with a top speed of 50 mph.

The MOKE focuses on lifestyle appeal and short-distance mobility rather than competing on range or performance. It is not an NEV but sits in a niche of its own for open-air motoring enthusiasts. Drivers seeking a compact electric vehicle for leisure may find this distinct character appealing.
