A group called Cyberleek has threatened to leak Grand Theft Auto 6. They claim to hold a full copy of the game ready to release online.
They say the release stops if a coin project reaches thirty million dollars. The group posted this rule on their website earlier this week.
There is another way for publishers to prevent the leak from happening. They must provide physical disks for consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X along with an apology.
This follows two months of unauthorized videos uploaded by the same source. Recent clips showed twenty-five minutes of new footage featuring gameplay scenes.
Some of these videos included character models stripped of clothing by accident. Fans debated whether the studio intended to show nudity before this happened.
The parent company Take-Two says it is moving quickly to find who posted the content. Their team works with courts to get records from services hosting the clips.
Requests went out to Discord and Microsoft while a video request was later removed. Investigators have not said what results they found in those searches so far.
Observers note that the group pulled money from its coin scheme before leaving it empty. This suggests their current claims might be part of a new attempt at profit rather than principle.
The release of Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected in about one month from now. This timing makes the threat of a leaked build more urgent for the developers involved.
There is no public confirmation on who controls the account behind the Cyberleek name. Fans continue to search for the identity of the person or group running it.
