Citroen has revealed a new electric vehicle called the 2 CV Concept at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. The company describes the car as a compact design that combines classic styling with modern technology. It is currently a concept, meaning final specifications have not been confirmed for production.

Citroen plans to set a starting price of around €15,000 for the vehicle. One report estimates this equals approximately $24,000 in Australian dollars to provide context for value. If realized, this target could place the model among the more accessible electric cars in Europe.

The company intends to manufacture the car in Europe to keep costs down under their strategic plans. Production is expected to join the Citroen lineup by 2028 according to current projections. It would sit between the smaller Ami and the e-C3 in the brand's range.

The concept measures just 3.76 meters in length, which is shorter than the original 2 CV. Engineers also aim for a weight of around one tonne to reduce energy use during driving. This light build helps support affordability goals by allowing for smaller batteries on board.

The design features round headlights and exposed windshield wipers that recall the historic model. Newer elements include sharp details, LED lighting signatures, and yellow accents on steel wheels. Citroen has also offered a bright Infra Red exterior color with orange tones.

Inside, wide seats feature removable baskets to replace traditional center consoles for storage. A detachable radio called Radioen acts as a portable speaker for use outside the car. The cabin includes an eight-inch square touchscreen and a fabric sunroof for natural light.

The original 2 CV became an automotive icon after its debut at the Paris Motor Show in 1948. Production ended in 1990 following over five million units sold worldwide. Citroen aims to bring back that same spirit of accessible mobility for electric drivers today.

Citroen left the Australian market in 2024, making local availability unlikely for this model. The brand faces competition from Chinese manufacturers who target similar low price points. Stellantis plans to launch 50 new vehicles by 2030 as part of its FaSTLAne strategy.
