Chery announced at the Exeed International User Summit in Shanghai that its premium electric brand will enter the Australian and New Zealand markets under the Exlantix name. Chief executive Lilian Xiong said the Exeed name cannot be registered in the region because it is too similar to an existing trademark, and the company will therefore use the already‑established Exlantix identity. The announcement follows the launch of other Chery brands such as Omoda and Jaecoo in Australia and the same brands plus Lepas, iCaur and Freelander in New Zealand.

First Models and Design

The first two Exlantix vehicles to be shown are the ET SUV and the ES GT shooting brake, both presented as right‑hand drive. The ES GT is a shooting‑brake version of the ES sedan, styled under the Perpetua design language inspired by flowing water, and is expected to be available in less than eight months from the summit.

Chery plans to position Exlantix against other premium Chinese new‑energy brands such as Zeekr and Denza, targeting buyers who already own an electric car and want a step up in design and interior quality. Exeed, the parent brand, currently serves 560,000 customers in more than 40 countries, and the Exlantix launch will aim to attract those seeking new design or technology while offering a higher‑quality cabin compared with mainstream Chinese vehicles.

The brand’s first models are expected to arrive in the region in the first half of 2027, with right‑hand drive production still being confirmed. Exlantix will join a growing family of Chery‑owned brands in Australia and New Zealand, with seven electric vehicles scheduled for launch by 2027. A robotaxi programme is planned for a later date and is not slated for the Australian or New Zealand market at this time.
