BYD announced the launch of its Racco kei car in Sri Lanka, the first market outside Japan, with an introductory price of 11,450,000 Sri Lankan rupees (34,615 USD). The offer is valid until November 9, after which the price will rise, reflecting the high import duties that make cars expensive on the island.

The Racco is a front‑wheel‑drive micro‑EV that measures 3,395 mm long, 1,475 mm wide and 1,800 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,520 mm and a turning radius of 4.8 m. It comes with a 47 kW electric motor that delivers 160 Nm of torque. Two lithium‑iron‑phosphate battery options are available: 22.4 kWh and 35.84 kWh, giving a WLTC range of 210 km and 320 km respectively. The vehicle seats four and offers a 280‑liter trunk.
