BYD officially launched its new flagship pure electric large sedan, the Great Han EV, on Tuesday. The vehicle is available in three trim levels with a starting price of 235,900 yuan, which equals about $35,200. Launch prices for all variants are lower than pre-sale amounts, offering savings between 14,000 and 24,000 yuan depending on the model.

All models use a 102.3 kWh second-generation Blade Battery pack to power the drive system. The entry-level rear-wheel-drive version offers a CLTC range of up to 1,008 km on the standard Chinese testing cycle. Higher trim levels with all-wheel drive provide a shorter range of 880 km on the same test cycle.

A key technology feature is the flash charging system which supports rapid power replenishment. Drivers can charge from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes according to both reports. One source specifies that a partial charge from 10% to 70% takes only 5 minutes.

The sedan measures 5,256 mm in length and features rear-wheel steering for a tight turning radius. Acceleration times reach 3.3 seconds to 100 km/h for the dual-motor version. Physically, it is slightly larger than the Tesla Model S and comparable to the long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Inside, the cabin includes white ash wood trim and a 31-speaker sound system by Devialet. Front seats offer zero-gravity positioning with heating and massage functions for passengers in both rows. Rear passengers also receive electric leg rests and a folding screen with a small table.

Reports differ on the version name for the driver assistance system, with one citing God’s Eye B and the other God’s Eye 5.0. Both agree the setup includes roof-mounted LiDAR for autonomous features like Navigate on Autopilot. In the broader lineup, this sedan joins the Great Tang SUV as a flagship under the Dynasty series, which recently sold over 10,000 units per month.
