Binance has begun resuming withdrawals in phases, starting with the Bitcoin network, less than three days after a $6.3 billion hack forced it to suspend them. Phase one was set to start between 06:00 and 09:00 UTC on Sunday, which is 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Nigeria.

Phase One Opens

The first phase covers several major networks. Bitcoin and Ethereum are included, and USDC and USDT can be withdrawn on both Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain, with BNB on BSC. The list also includes SOL, XRP, ZEC and a handful of tokens on other chains.

Binance says it has covered about 95% of the losses. The 10 largest affected tokens – BTC, ETH, USDT, BNB, SOL, USDC, XRP, USD1, RLUSD and ZEC – are fully backed. The remaining 5% is in less liquid tokens, which take longer to buy at the required scale. The exchange has drawn on its Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU), its futures insurance fund and its corporate treasury.

US security officials say the theft was linked to a North Korean hacking group. Binance says it will absorb the financial impact of the stolen funds and will publish a full post-incident report once the investigation is complete. Deposits remain open, and more networks will be added once readiness checks are complete.
