Audi will invest about $4 billion to build its first U.S. assembly plant in Georgia. The company chose the Middle Georgia Megasite in Peach County for the factory. Construction is set to begin next year, with production starting in the early 2030s.
Audi has taken a $1.4 billion hit from U.S. import tariffs in 2025 alone, and it says it cannot absorb those costs forever. A local plant would shield the brand from trade volatility. The announcement came from President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Perry, Georgia, where he brought Audi chairman Gernot Döllner onto the stage.
Plant details and jobs
The Middle Georgia Megasite will have an annual capacity of up to 200,000 vehicles. Audi expects about 4,500 jobs to be created, with more through suppliers and service partners. The factory is expected to focus on the biggest premium SUVs, including the Q7, Q8 and the newly unveiled Q9, which was shown at the rally.
The plant will give Audi a local production base, answering BMW's U.S. presence and placing it alongside Mercedes-Benz's major hub in Alabama. Audi says it sees the site as a way to unlock growth in one of the world's most important premium markets.
