Air Space Intelligence (ASI) announced a $325 million Series C round that values the Boston‑based AI firm at $3 billion. Spark Capital led the investment, with Citadel Securities affiliates, Meritech Capital, Craft Ventures, Energy Impact Partners and Andreessen Horowitz also participating. The new capital follows earlier funding rounds, including a pre‑seed led by Gradient. The company had previously been known as Air Space Intelligence.
ASI’s core technology predicts air traffic, power grid load, and military operations hours, days, and weeks ahead. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration awarded ASI an $875 million contract in June to run the country’s air traffic using the system. The deal runs for 12 years and began in September around Washington before plans to expand nationwide. The AI blends weather, flight paths and staffing data to forecast congestion and suggest delay‑reduction measures.
Broader reach in military and utilities
In October, the U.S. Army signed a five‑year, $99 million contract with ASI for its next‑generation command and control programme. ASI has already supported more than 4,000 Air Force operators during Operation Epic Fury. Commercial airlines including Delta, Alaska and United use ASI’s systems to manage flights. The National Grid leverages the software to plan and run the national electricity network, and Joby has used it for electric air‑taxi skies.
The fresh funding will expand ASI’s work into energy, logistics and military field operations, and it will grow research and engineering teams in Boston. ASI is part of a growing wave of U.S. defence and aerospace start‑ups attracting investors, a trend highlighted by Anduril’s recent employee share sale.
