Apple unveiled a new 24-inch iMac on Tuesday. The all-in-one keeps the same 4.5K Retina display and seven-color palette as the previous model. Its design is unchanged, and it still has a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera that supports Desk View. Inside, it runs on the M6 chip.

The M6 chip can have up to 12 cores in both the CPU and GPU. It adds a second 16-core Neural Engine.

Connectivity has been upgraded with the new N1 wireless chip. The iMac now supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Its 2.5-Gigabit Ethernet port is up to 2.5 times faster for wired connections than the previous generation. Four Thunderbolt 4 ports come on the 12-core model, or two on the 10-core model.

The entry-level configuration, with a 10-core CPU and GPU, starts at $1,499 in the U.S.

Pre-orders open on Wednesday, October 28, at 10:10 a.m. Pacific Time, and the first units are expected to ship on Friday, November 6. The iMac keeps the same 24-inch display and camera features as the M4 model, but its internal hardware has been upgraded. The launch follows Apple's release of the iPad mini the day before.
