Apple unveiled a new iPad mini that adds an OLED screen, a faster A20 Pro processor, and a slimmer, lighter chassis. The update will be available for pre‑order on Oct 28 at 10:10 a.m. Pacific and will ship to Apple Stores on Nov 6. Prices start at $699 for Wi‑Fi only and $849 with cellular, with one hundred twenty‑eight, two hundred fifty‑six, and five hundred twelve gigabytes options in Midnight and Starlight.
Design and Build
The new model is thinner at 5.4 mm and lighter at 255 g, compared with the previous 6.3 mm and 297 g. Its 8.5‑inch OLED display delivers a peak brightness of 1200 nits and a 60‑Hz refresh rate, while the IP67 rating adds water and dust resistance.

Inside, the A20 Pro chip varies by storage: the one hundred twenty‑eight and two hundred fifty‑six gigabyte models have a five‑core CPU, seven‑core GPU and a single sixteen‑core Neural Engine, while the five hundred twelve gigabyte model adds a sixth CPU core and a second sixteen‑core Neural Engine. The tablet also ships with Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, an N1 networking chip, an Acoustic Display that uses the screen as a speaker, and a twelve‑megapixel Center‑Stage front camera positioned along the landscape edge. The rear camera is a twelve‑megapixel wide sensor that supports 4K video at 60 fps.
Customers can choose between one hundred twenty‑eight, two hundred fifty‑six or five hundred twelve gigabytes of storage. The two hundred fifty‑six and five hundred twelve gigabyte versions can be upgraded to a nano‑texture display that reduces glare for an extra $100. The tablet comes in two colors, Midnight and Starlight.
Pre‑orders open on Oct 28 at the exact time of 10:10 a.m. Pacific on apple.com and in the Apple Store app. The first units will arrive at Apple Stores on Nov 6. A matching TechWoven Smart Folio is priced at $79.
