Apple plans to announce a new smart home hub on Tuesday called the HomeView, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. This launch represents the company's most serious bet on the smart home to date after past failures with HomeKit software or the HomePod speaker. Over the past couple of years, multiple reports have suggested Apple was working on a new smart home product with a specific name and launch date. Now sources indicate the product has a confirmed identity and release schedule supported by industry trackers.
Gurman described the HomeView as a Siri-powered device that includes a display and an A18 chip. This hardware allows customers to control their other smart home devices directly through the hub. The combination of software and silicon marks a significant technical investment for Apple.
The HomeView will reportedly be available in two different models designed for distinct locations. One version is intended for countertops while the other is designed to be mounted on walls. These options give users flexibility in where they place the device.
Reports indicate manufacturing was reportedly all lined up a year ago but delays occurred due to AI issues. Apple faced difficulties shipping a non-crappy AI-enabled version of Siri which delayed the project. The product had previously been known by outsiders as the HomePad before the name change.
Past reporting says the device will be armed with facial recognition giving it the ability to personalize itself for users. It will register who is standing before it to adjust settings accordingly. This feature supports a vision where users buy several of them for different rooms.

The intercom function allows messages from one person to register as that specific voice regardless of the device used. For example, a message from a parent in the kitchen registers as being sent by Dad even if issued from a bedroom unit. This personalization is part of the ecosystem Apple envisions for the device.
The unveiling is set for an event called Welcome Home at Apple Experience in Tribeca, New York. It is scheduled to take place at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday and is not expected to be a big keynote-centric tour-de-force. Jon Ternus is mentioned as potentially announcing a one more thing feature during the presentation.
On the same day, Apple will also be unveiling updated versions of two other home devices. These include the Apple TV set-top box and the HomePod mini smart speaker. This expands the range of products being released alongside the main hub.
Earlier this week, Gurman said that Apple plans to announce a partnership with LG to create specific hardware. The collaboration will involve creating a smart lock, a thermostat, and a doorbell. This extends the ecosystem beyond just Apple-branded devices.
To help customers understand the product, Apple Stores will feature the HomeView heavily along its Avenues sections. These sections of the store usually host third-party products and peripherals where unsuspecting members might find it. The strategy aims to introduce the new device to the public in a natural setting rather than through a traditional display stand.
