Apple has launched HomeView, a $299 smart display built around the new Siri AI system. Pre-orders are now open for shipping to begin on November 13. The device is not currently available for sale in the European Union.
Apple says the regional exclusion exists because Siri AI is blocked on iOS there. Regulatory officials rejected proposals forcing Apple to give rivals deep access to user data. This dispute concerns interoperability rules that affect how assistants manage messages and files.
Sales are limited to eight markets including the US, UK and Canada. Other launch countries are India, Singapore, South Africa and Australia. Siri AI runs in English beta within these supported regions.

The hardware features a seven-inch Liquid Retina LCD display on a domed speaker base. It uses Apple's A18 chip to recognize up to six people by face. Camera data is held in an isolated part of the processor for security.
Siri requests can run locally or via Private Cloud Compute where data is not stored. The interface adjusts brightness from 0.3 to 500 nits based on room lighting. Users gain personal context from messages and email when paired with an iPhone.
HomeView acts as a Matter controller and Thread Border Router for connected devices. A new accessories line includes cameras, thermostats and a lock designed for the home hub. Wall mounts cost extra starting at $60 in space gray or silver.
