OnePoll conducted a survey in September 2026 by asking 1,000 single people who are actively dating in the UK. Sixty percent of those surveyed reported feeling worn down by the use of digital dating platforms. Nearly half of the respondents said they would rather meet a potential partner more naturally than through an app.
This sense of exhaustion is not limited to one country or region. A separate poll from 2024 by Forbes Health found that more than three-quarters of American app users experienced similar fatigue. Women were slightly more likely to report feeling this way compared to men, at eighty percent versus seventy-four percent.
When asked what they want instead of traditional dates, many people pointed toward shared experiences. Forty-four percent of UK daters said they would sooner accept an invitation built around a drive or day trip than a standard dinner or drinks date. Thirty-five percent believe a shared activity gives them a better chance of forming an emotional bond with someone new.

Alfa Romeo has collaborated with dating coach Kate Mansfield on a guide called Guida all’Amore. The document includes five of the UK’s most romantic road-trip destinations designed for in-person dates. Mansfield argues that meeting face to face works best when it feels collaborative rather than like a job interview.
The carmaker is pitching its Junior Elettrica electric SUV as an ideal companion for these outings. The vehicle features a 54 kWh battery and offers a range of 255 miles according to WLTP standards. It can charge from twenty percent to eighty percent in approximately thirty minutes using rapid charging.
Jules Tilstone, managing director of Alfa Romeo UK, stated that singles are looking for a more authentic way to connect. He suggested that a scenic drive offers a chance to step away from traditional scenarios and share a natural experience together. The brand emphasizes the car's Italian DNA alongside performance and style.
Because a manufacturer with a vehicle to promote ran the research, experts suggest reading the data as a snapshot of sentiment rather than settled science. Still, the message remains clear that some people want fewer screens and more scenery in their dating lives.
